The History of B.S.
[Herstory and Blog Searches* aside.]

There is a joke about what the oldest profession is, but I won’t go there. It is more or less about procreation. The B. S. I am talking about is the flip-flop of Simpson-Bowles.[1] Yes, I believe that was its name before it hit the road. It was supposed to be a bi-partisan committee on the debt, but could not come up with any consensus on how it should be addressed, so its full report was submitted more like a Supreme Court decision that was tied.
Recently it seems that its name was changed, to Bowles-Simpson.[2] Was there some reason for that? Could it be to honor the real oldest profession? And I don’t mean the Barter System. If this is too nuanced, maybe it is the joke, to be less about creation, more about pro$e. Either way this is a very economic and political history.

[Now I realize that some boots may be needed for the above, but I was trying to be economic. But the point is that it is always political and it has not been bi-partisan except on the Democratic side. Pun on BP aside.** The irony is that it is about walking a plank. Both want a rising tide, but the Republicans want the people to walk the plank, while politicians take one to the other party boat. Unfortunately this may need deeper boots or Mitt-Flops for the economics, let alone politics. The B.S. may be in this writing, but it is in the links and balanced solutions as well.]

Enough?
Bring Em On!*
Hold it pardner! You don't know who em is.
But speaking of wind there is an eery parallel at least in the eye of the storm.
At least the climatic metaphors if not all wet cowboys(arrr), as the rising tide boys spin their buckets. But seriously there is a link to us moving in this storm.

Despite fancies of the perfect storm or solution, let alone metaphor, it is best one have a clear head and not head directly into anything. See bearings, not to mention tact and tack.

Health Care Summit
Progress already?
Health Care is not a car, that can be recalled and repaired? Rhetorically paraphrasing Lamar Alexander, it is like the Contract for America. My original trigger might not have been relevant, as some of the original planks* might not have made it into legislation. But in fact it was even used in apparent violation of the original intent as a Republican Congress used it and President Clinton vetoed it as being detrimental to the budget. But the real point is that legislation can be recalled and repaired, much easier than a car. It does not even have to be out-of-service or in the shop to get a tune-up. Getting the mechanics to do the job is the problem.
[Obama: Apples and Oranges, me: lemons and Bugs, red, orange, yellow ones(VW). Contrasts house insurance versus health mechanics. Catastrophic options still there but with the fruits and mechanics affordable.(medical not political)]

[Yet** Rep. Boustany is back to a mechanical political apples and oranges of polls and messages to a step by step back from reality by ignoring other polls in support of public options. (Apologies for mixed methaphors but it is the only way to transcend the Republican flip-flop.)]
[And then there is Senator McCain. Which was addressed as a charaterizer of the process rather than progress. Not to mention Congressman Cantor. Now it's how's the beef, inspector? Not to mention the sausage or the liver worst of high risk pools and slices (2400+11)of legislation. Meanwhile Rep. Mike Pense grinds the beef on MSNBC. 9:50 AM PST. About bad TV, but several points made my Republicans can be points of agreement, if they are not already addressed. However kudos to Rep. Cummings 10:00, and Andrea Mitchell, 10:05 AM. on Cantor and McCain.(rough times)]

Lemon Ship
Friday evening I used the sinking ship metaphor in a conversation[*]. It is more accurately the lemon (twist) ship, definitely in need of work.

Walking the plank plays into the dynamic evolution. As a party wanes out of power, less partisan or more pragmatic(some may read opportunistic) members leave to dilute the partisanship of the new ship and leave a more concentrated sunken ship. Walking the Plank[!]
A caller to a talk show expressed well my sentiment on the death penalty.
Paraphrased: I will support the death penalty when the first corporation is executed in Texas. Well, being a Jolly Roger, (i.e. No Will Rogers) I might not go that far mattie.(ar R something privatization.)

The real leadership is not in a party or a position but in ideas. My pun is purely about the platform over the process, not to mention parties. But in particular a few planks that Bernie Sanders has suggested in the form of: Six Demands to Make of Wall Street.
If Republicans want to walk the talk, of Where are the Jobs?* Then vote on every last one of these, as well as the American Jobs Act, and see who will be left on the ship of fools.

In Charles Handy's The Age of Paradox,(**) there are two chapters I navigated to, but first I would say that every age is a paradox, as that is the nature of nature. Anyway, they are The Federal Idea p. 109) under Practicing the Preaching, which referenced back to the Sigmoid Curve(p. 49) under Finding the Balance. I would like to weave in the Paradox of Choice by Bob Schwartz to determine if management of information and business is what education should be based on.

Legislation not politics!

Was it Cant or Bane or, who said such.
Well, I paraphrase, but it was an attack on President Obama and the American Jobs Act. The idea that he was playing politics by giving them a jobs plan, while it is the legislature's job to create legislation. Sure there is a disagreement as to what creates jobs, but there should be no disagreement that it is legislation and it is political.
Plan B? Walking the Plank? Take up or down votes:

As someone said about the market operating on society, like Siamese Twins performing brain surgery on themselves. But taking it to the bank or kitchen or pulpit,(the ridiculus line that is), the answer is in one word. VOTE! Up or down, package or separately, limit the filibuster, use reconciliation, WHATEVER! A vote is taking a stand. Take it and run on it, not from it. BUT THEN WE HAVE THE MESSAGE TO GET THROUGH THE MESS AGE OF THE MEDIA, not even punning on ledership. The American Jobs Act did not get voted down, it failed a cloture vote(50-49). That means that even if three more Democrats had voted with the rest, it would have been 53-46, but it takes 60 votes people!]

It was Friday night and I just happened flip the channel and stumbled upon the Prophecies of Kim Clement. (links obviously not from then)
'Nuff said, but later I looked up* the word "prophesy" (no concordance) But the spooky thing is that as I popped open this book of over 1300 pages and it opened right to the word "prophecy".**
Another interesting intersect.
Bottom-line my hard copy is not available online so I might say that it is a cross*** between "online" and muse-ic. "To be called"-"in the spirit".

Two Points
Please note that just because someone endorses the priciples of a movement, that does not mean they endorse any of their tactics. Obama has been accused of distancing himself from OWS, and the 99%, but I think that is only in terms of some of their behavior and some of their demands.
Who am I to suggest what might work for Occupy Wall Street, but it could be strategic to give them the park back and MoveOn[*] (pardon the Irony)! While I have associated with MoveOn, DFA, and a # of other acronyms and parties(individual and organizational) I think that their message can evolve and be more dimensional.

Maybe it is actually awaiting radicalization, but I realize the practical difficulities of moving from Zuccotti Park.(Packing up, needing a place to go, but with the opportunity to return, unless the police occupy Zuccotti Park.) I just mean to take success from the fact that there are so many "Occupy Places" around the country and around the world, not to diminish the value of general assemblies, and the logistical need for occupying some space.
